Literature Text

Strange,
How the darkness
Brings us into the light

Ahh, Gloom
It's been too long
And Sorrow!
My old friends
Faithful companions
The only ones
Not to have forsaken
Always here,
Forever true

And when you wrap your leaden arms around me
Weights cling to my soul,
Drag, drag, drag it down to murky depths,
Where your black eyes are the only light
Your cruel words, the only consolation
Echoes of emptiness form a song,
Form a tear, form a smile

I love the way you make me cry
'Cause sadness never felt so good
This is the result of having been listening to slow, gloomy songs all night... (Oh, I like The Cure- a lot.)

But after a while, I thought it strange that sometimes, it's the gloom that picks us up, more so than the happy, upbeat, perky songs...and that's all this poem is about, really.
